Workshops, Demos, and Sketchwalks

We have several instructors:


ベンルック  Ben Luk from Hong Kong will hold a tea party with the theme of sketching wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) being prepared by a local artisan.

    Participants will need to pay an additional 1000 yen for food, to be collected in cash on the day.

松川久美  Kumi Matsukawa (USk Tokyo) will teach how to capture a person’s personality and the atmosphere of their surroundings.

(USk Seoul) Using just two pens, we will explore possible sketches, work out our noticing muscles, and streamline drawing choices using bold colors that lead to new and exciting sketches.

    (English and Korean with some Japanese translation)







矢野元晴 Motoharu Yano from Kamakura, Japan will teach impressionist watercolor.

DEMOS (This list is a work in progress — please keep checking as we introduce more demos!)

We will have several demos by these artists as well as others.  USk Tokyo members will also be leading sketch walks of the Katsuura area.


Sketchwalk locations:  

Katsuura Morning Market  (English)(Japanese)  This daily morning market with a 430-year history is busiest on weekends.  Sketch the shoppers, the vendors, and their wares.

Tomisaki Shrine (English)(Japanese) Walk up the stairs from the market street to this historic shrine to sketch the shrine and views from the top of the hill.
